MI Craft House Workshop Policies Banner-1.png

Location:

We are located in a blu-ish green house across the street from Family Dollar within walking distance to Howell. Our address is 516 E. Grand River Ave. Howell, MI.  When using google maps direct your app to search for MI Craft House instead of 516 E. Grand River.  Some customers mistakenly pull up the wrong 516 E. Grand River.  On-site parking is available. Please use the spaces at the rear of the parking lot first. If those spaces are full, overflow parking is available perpendicular to the driveway. When using overflow parking,  park closest to the front of our property, and please keep the driveway clear. Our entrance is the middle side door with our sign on it (go up the ramp and turn left).

Arrivals:

We kindly ask that you arrive 10-15 minutes early so we can begin our workshop promptly. Late arrivals can interrupt instruction and the creative experience for other participants. We understand that delays happen and will do our best to accommodate arrivals within the first 10 minutes. However, students arriving more than 10 minutes late may not be able to participate, depending on the workshop. Please note, that missed instruction cannot always be repeated individually once class has begun.

Accessibility, Additional Support

We want everyone to feel welcome and supported at MI Craft House. If you or someone you’re registering has accessibility needs or would benefit from additional support, please use the field at checkout to let us know how we can help. You don’t need to share a diagnosis—just information that would help us prepare.

Youth Participation

Our regular workshops welcome youth ages 12 and older when accompanied by an adult who is also registered with a paid ticket. Children under 12 require instructor permission to attend regular workshops. We also offer youth programs for younger ages, as noted in those class descriptions. Please let us know at checkout if you’re registering a youth crafter, including their age.

Cancellation & Refund Policy:

3 or more weeks before the workshop: full refund.
2–3 weeks before the workshop: full credit toward a future workshop
Less than 2 weeks before : non-refundable, but you may transfer your spot

Liability Waiver:

By registering for this Mi Craft House class, you acknowledge that crafting involves the use of tools, materials, and equipment that can be sharp, hot, or messy. You accept all responsibility for your own safety and the safety of any minors you bring, and release Mi Craft House, its staff, and instructors from any liability for injury, damage, or loss of personal property that may occur during the class.

Photo / Social Media Waiver:

By participating in this class, you grant Mi Craft House permission to take photographs or videos of you and your work for use in promotional materials, social media, or educational content. You understand that you will not receive compensation for this use, and that images may be used at the studio’s discretion.  Please let the instructor know if you choose not to be photographed.

Coats, handbags and Refreshments:

Drinks are welcome at MI Craft House! For some projects, we ask that water bottles stay on our second table to give everyone more workspace and a clear view of demonstrations and project examples. Your drinks will remain easily accessible throughout class.

Food is not allowed in the craft room, but snacks may be kept on the second table when space allows.

Coat hooks are available for coats and purses. If you prefer to keep your purse near you, please place it fully under the table on the shelf provided to keep walkways clear and belongings off the floor.

Tickets:

You do not need to physically print your ticket to gain entrance to your workshop.  We have a list and will check you in by name.  The exception is if someone transferred their ticket to you, then you should give us their name so we can find the registration.

What’s Included

Most workshops include all the materials and tools you’ll need. Please read your individual workshop description for details about what’s provided and anything you should bring.

What to Wear and Bring

Wear comfortable clothing suitable for crafting. We have aprons and protective gloves available. For workshops involving heat, paint, or other messy materials, please bring a hair tie to secure long hair. If you use reading glasses, remember to bring them! We have a few pairs available to borrow if you forget.

Experience Level

Experience levels and any prerequisites are listed in each workshop description, so you can choose a class that feels right for you.

Handmade Expectations

Part of the joy of making things by hand is seeing your own creativity take shape. Our samples provide inspiration and a goal to work toward, and we’ll guide you through the techniques to create something you can feel proud of. Some skills take practice, and your piece may look different from the sample, those differences are a natural part of learning and creating. Give yourself room to explore, enjoy the process, and celebrate what you’ve made.

Guests and Observers

Our cozy studio has limited space, so everyone attending must have a ticket. We’re unable to accommodate unticketed guests or observers. If you need a support person to attend, please contact us before registering to discuss arrangements.

Drying Time and Project Pickup

Some projects need extra drying or finishing time before they can go home. If a workshop requires pickup at a later date, this will be noted in the workshop description before you register.

Weather and Instructor Cancellations

Please complete the contact information at checkout and let us know the best way to reach you if weather or an unexpected instructor cancellation affects your workshop.  We know last-minute changes can be inconvenient. If you cannot check your phone or email during work or before class, please provide an alternate contact number in the “Anything We Should Know” section of the checkout form so we have another way to reach you.

You’ve reached the end. There should probably be a prize.

You read the workshop information, the policies, and possibly more words than you were expecting to read today. We appreciate you!

Quietly tell your instructor “crafty potato” when you arrive for your workshop, and we’ll have a little surprise for you.  It’s our thank-you for taking the time to read.  Please keep our secret. We want to see who else makes it this far.
